Basement

Our basement includes the inside of an early train depot; a display room featuring the logging, sawmill, and rafting history on the Wisconsin River; a tool shop and a clothing loom room.

First Floor

The first floor houses our Grim Natwick display along with our cranberry history and Witter family displays. There is also a sunroom available for meetings. To book this room please contact the museum.  Grim Natwick was born in 1890 in Wisconsin Rapids, grew up here, and left for greener pastures.  Along the way he became a world class cartoon artist and inventer of the character of Betty Boop.  And there is much more for you to learn about Grim, at the South Wood County Historical Society Museum.

Second Floor

The second floor has a toy room, country kitchen, a country store, doctor’s clinic, and a display featuring Don Krohn photos from the 1950’s.  Don Krohn was a photographer for the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune newspaper.
